Founded in 2016, Pacific Overlander was a first-to-market, category leader offering rental access to fully equipped, ‘overland’ trucks and SUVs, as well as all-inclusive, guided overland tours through some of the West's most iconic landscapes.

The company was based on a belief that camping should be comfortable, easy, and accessible, and in its best form, offer meaningful experiences with nature and one another, and it offered increased access to a value not adequately addressed by competitors, namely, an authentic camping experience.

Envisioned on the ‘safari’ experience available throughout much of Africa and internationally, as well as the premises that outdoor recreation and outdoor accommodation were growth segments, and that electrification, automation, ownership, and subscription all presented disruptive opportunities within automotive, the company was launched as a solopreneurial project with a boot-strapped approach to developing an MVP, enabling customer acquisition, and propelling organic discovery.

The company maintained operations through the pandemic, providing opportunities for safe travel, and reached profitability, successfully scaling to a multi-depot service with a fleet size of 15 vehicles before suspending business operations in late 2022.
