UNAMNESIA is an educational, media, and community platform hosting courses, workshops, and events at the intersection of transpersonal psychology and innovation.
Einstein posits that “we can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them,“ so UNAMNESIA launches with the ambition of addressing the many problems of our era by leaning into the creative potential of individuals who think non-ordinarily.
While we see individual empowerment, creativity, and innovation as the single most potent forces for change, we believe these impulses are not born from the reasoning of a rare genius or the desires of an individual ego but emerge from the transpersonal domain of human experience. Plato saw learning as a form of remembering (anamnesis or unamnesia), thus displacing the innovator in time and space. Here learning, idea development, and discovery are all thought to be transpersonal phenomena. The realm of dreams, visions, voices, and the unconscious has a unique capacity to disrupt neat notions of agency and causality, so offering fertile ground to incubate new solutions and forcing us to think differently.
Non-ordinary states of consciousness and altered states of consciousness (NOS/ASC) are both valid and efficacious methods of advancing creativity, problem solving, and group cohesion, offering consistent access to transpersonal information. Providing increased access to these states in service of creativity and innovation is the recipe we use to brew our post-modern kykeon. We invite a community of creatives to develop the language necessary to communicate with these transpersonal source of inspiration: the Daimon, Muse, Source, Self, and we believe this allows them to remember their innovations in the future and work to realize them in the present.
With increased personal meaning and social innovation as the clearest end-points, we aim to substantiate the transpersonal, or self-transcendence, as a developmental goal not only for individuals but for society and commerce based on a coherent presentation of its intrinsic and extrinsic value. We believe this has the power to solve many intractable problems and ultimately to change the world. Join us.
